Our Redeemer Lutheran Church supports a number of missions both to spread the Gospel and to assist our neighbors.
For 2017 we will support the following missions.
Church Worker Training Mission
The congregation traditionally supports both Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, and Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. This year the congregation will support a former vicar, who is completing his studies at Ft. Wayne.
Iowa District East
The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod is organized into thirty-five administrative units, or districts. District presidents provide leadership to their districts and serve on the synodical Council of Presidents. Our Redeemer Lutheran Church is located in Iowa District East.
In accordance with Lutheran doctrine and practice, Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca promotes and provides Christ-centered education, recreation, and inspiration for individuals and groups of all ages within Iowa District East.
Lutheran Family Service of Iowa
Lutheran Family Service of Iowa provides a variety of services including pregnancy, marriage, and mental health counseling as well as adoption services. The mission of this organization is: “We walk with people who are experiencing hard times and are there for them just as God has been there for us.” The values of the organization are: “grace, life, family, compassion, accountability, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came into this world to redeem us. Jesus is the cornerstone of our ministry and the focus of all that we do in serving people.”
St. Silas Lutheran Church, North Liberty
St. Silas Lutheran Church is a response by the Iowa District East to requests to start a church in North Liberty, a rapidly growing city near Iowa City. St. Paul’s Lutheran Chapel in Iowa City served as the mother church for the new congregation, which was established in 2012 and moved into its own location in 2013.
Valley Lutheran School
Valley Lutheran School is a kindergarten through twelfth grade Lutheran school in Cedar Falls. The school’s goal is to provide an environment that motivates and challenges students to grow and succeed. The school sees itself as an alternative to public education and as a place where “we are able to educate children not only academically, spiritually, and emotionally, but also through the love of Jesus Christ.”
Lutheran Heritage Foundation
The Lutheran Heritage Foundation provides solid Lutheran publications to people around the world and in their native languages. Its mission is to translate, publish, distribute, and introduce books that are Bible-based, Christ-centered, and Reformation-driven. In the past decade, the foundation has published and distributed more than seven hundred titles/editions and three million Lutheran books to pastors, seminary students, missionaries, and churches–all at no cost to them.
Issues, Etc. is a Christ-centered, Cross-focused radio program whose mission is: (1) to defend and teach the truths rediscovered at the Lutheran Reformation: Grace, Faith, Scripture, and Christ alone: and, (2) to challenge today’s relativistic culture with its unbiblical and illogical ideologies.
